I want to help you get up again

The Japanese have a proverb that says:

"if you fall down 7 times, get up 8".

It’s a phrase which encapsulates the human spirit of overcoming. The urge to move forward. To fight for your dreams.

My patients and I share this same philosophy.

You are probably reading this page because someone important in your life or you have a serious knee problem.

An osteoarthritis problem. A premature ageing of your bones that damages your joints, causes pain and limits your freedom of movement.

For some time now you haven’t been able to enjoy a game of golf or tennis, go for a walk or dance with your partner, enjoy being with your family, playing with the smallest members of the family or do something as simple as going up or down a flight of stairs.

You’ve already tried everything. And you still don’t feel any relief.

You’ve tried physiotherapy but there is hardly any improvement.
You’ve tried osteopaths and acupuncture sessions. You’ve tried stretching exercises at home, practising pilates and even yoga classes without any success.

You’ve used knee braces for your osteoarthritis, but they’re uncomfortable and you find itnannoying to have to depend on one to be able to walk.

Analgesics, anti-inflammatories and morphine barely make you feel better because every time you take them their effect lasts for less time.

And that’s not to mention the side effects that prolonged use can cause: hypertension, gastritis, liver damage or dependence among other things.

You may have tried to relieve the pain in your knee with cortisone injections. But the relief is short-lived and there are too many side effects.
Maybe you have reached the point of having to use a cane or crutches. And that prevents you from leading an active life.

"I'm getting old"

That’s what you tell yourself every time you feel pain in your knee.

You know that good weather eases the pain a little. But you also know that soon winter will return and, with it, greater discomfort.

It makes you angry that you’ve tried everything only to find that the pain and stiffness persist.

You feel helpless because it seems impossible for you to return to happier times.

You would give anything to return to a life without pain. To go back to doing whatever you like. To get your active lifestyle back.

Put your cane to one side and get back to living

I'M DOCTOR LUIS GALLEGO, ORTHOPEDIC AND SPORTS SURGEON.

I HELP PATIENTS WITH OSTEOARTHRITIS RETURN TO AN ACTIVE AND PAIN-FREE LIFE IN RECORD TIME

How do I achieve that?

Imagine having access to the latest advances in Sports Medicine that are used as treatment for elite athletes.

And making these treatments available to patients who are not so young who want to continue leading an active life without giving it up because of the deterioration of their joints.

Why trust me?

In my 20 years of experience I have treated more than 2,000 patients with osteoarthritis, and we are getting closer and closer to fulfilling our goal of increasing life expectancy and quality of active life for all patients.

“I’m fortunate to have been treated by Dr Luis. He has helped me greatly with my worn out knees which had cartilage removed forty years ago. He has managed my problems well, avoiding surgery thus far. He is a surgeon to whom I owe my personal thanks.”

For me he was like an angel. In the two previous hospitals they did not know what to do with my knee. He is a great surgeon, and in the 4 days that I dealt with him I realized that he is also a great person who is always very sincere. Thank you Doctor Luis Gallego.

How do I work?

I design the most effective treatment according to the condition of your osteoarthritis: regenerative biological therapies whose effectiveness has been demonstrated in scientific studies, minimally invasive surgery techniques or adapted prostheses thanks to customized design with 3D printers.

As the head of the Sports Medicine Unit at Vithas Virgen del Mar Hospital in Almeria, Spain, I aspire not only to increase the life expectancy of our patients (it has been proven that, with greater activity, life expectancy increases considerably), but also to give them ACTIVE QUALITY of LIFE.

Get back your Active Quality of Life

When I entered the Faculty of Medicine, and due to my love of high-risk and contact sports (rugby, motorcycles, skiing, parachuting...) I suffered and witnessed fractures and injuries.

That is how I came into contact with Orthopedic Surgery: it seemed miraculous to me that friends with serious injuries could go back to playing sport after surgery. I made up my mind: I was going to be an orthopedic surgeon.

Later, during my residency and postgraduate studies, I specialized in the application of advances in Sports Medicine that are used as treatment for elite athletes.

These are state-of-the-art techniques that minimize complications, discomfort and recovery times. And with them you can get instant and lasting relief in your joints that restores your quality of life in record time.

But why should they only be accessible to a few elite athletes?

Nobody deserves to have to give up practicing their favourite sport or even basic activities like getting into a car or going for a bike ride. That’s a really unfair situation. That’s why I am moved by people who have seen their life become very limited due to pain.

My mission (and obsession) is to make available to as many patients as I can my knowledge regarding osteoarthritis knee surgery.

I do so through my surgery in Almeria, in southern Spain, and through teaching pathology courses to athletes at the University of Almeria and as an instructor for resident medical interns in Arthroscopy courses.

I am also an active member of the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA). There, thanks to the generosity of my colleagues, we share the latest medical and technological advances that allow me to give back to my patients the quality of active life that arthrosis has taken from them.

It's time for you to get back on your feet again

As an active person, I know what it’s like to suffer from limitations. When you realize that you can’t perform the slightest activity, that you can’t move as usual due to pain or enjoy a minimum quality of life.

If that’s your situation, I do not want that for you.

I want to help you find immediate and lasting relief. And tailor-made to your particular injury. Because I only recommend a technique or treatment if I am convinced that this is what my patient needs.

In order to help you understand which treatment may be best suited to your knee pain and osteoarthritic state, I have designed this questionnaire for you:

You can also contact me and ask for free advice with no obligation.
